Reservations are required for groups of 12 or more and for any group arriving by full-sized bus (or any vehicle that will not fit in a standard parking spot). All reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance of your visit. To make a reservation, please complete an online group visit request form:

If you are interested in visiting the Art Center during the busy spring and fall seasons (May–June; September–October), we recommend submitting the group visit request form several months in advance in order to secure a date.

During the peak months of May and October, 10–11AM bus arrivals are reserved for school groups. Please note that we are not able to accommodate buses on October weekends.

A Storm King staff member will contact you within seven business days regarding your request. Your reservation is not confirmed until you receive an email or phone call from our staff. If we are able to accommodate your group, you will receive a confirmation email with further details, including an invoice and guidelines for visiting Storm King.

Group rates are available to any group of 12 or more arriving in a single vehicle. Groups must have a reservation in order to receive the group rate. Groups arriving by car are subject to individual admission rates.

Guided Tours for Adults:  $50 for a group of 12 to 25 visitors. Groups larger than 25 will require additional docents at the same rate.

Guided Tours for School Groups: No additional charge. Each docent may take up to 25 students plus their chaperones.

See information about guided tours below.

Storm King’s specially trained docents lead tours that are 45 to 60 minutes long and generally take place on and around Museum Hill. Please be prepared to walk up to one mile on grass.

Tours cover information and history about Storm King Art Center and focus on a few key works from the collection. Classroom teachers and those with a special interest in particular works or themes should specify this on their reservation request. When possible, our staff will work with the group leader to tailor a tour to the group’s interest. Storm King encourages educators to prepare independent assignments and activities for their groups; however, such activities cannot be undertaken during a guided tour.

Tours must be requested at least two weeks in advance of your visit and are subject to docent availability. Fees for tours are outlined above. Docent tours may not be canceled or changed with less than 24-hour notice. Groups, including school groups, who do not provide 24-hour cancellation notice will be charged the full tour fee of $50 per docent. Please be prompt, as docents are only required to wait 15 minutes beyond the scheduled tour time.

Storm King trams are a crucial service for visitors with limited mobility and those with very young children. During our peak months, May, June, September, and October, school and adult groups are not permitted to ride public trams. Senior groups may have up to 15 people from a group on a public tram at one time in May and October. During our non-peak months, tram seats are available to groups on a first-come, first-served basis, but priority will always be given to guests with limited mobility.

A tram ride may be reserved exclusively for your group for a $225 fee with at least two weeks advance notice.

Picnic areas are available for groups who wish to bring their own lunch. All lunches should be placed in a large box or bin for easy transport by our staff.

Storm King Café offers a special box lunch menu for groups. Box lunches must be pre-ordered from Storm King Café at least five business days before your visit. More information and ordering instructions can be found on the box lunch menu.

One chaperone is required for every ten students in a school group. Groups arriving without the proper student-to-chaperone ratio may be refused entry or asked that part of the group remain in the parking or picnic area.

Admission fees may be paid on arrival or in advance (at least two weeks before your visit). Fees for additional services (tour, tram, etc.) must be paid at least two weeks in advance. We accept cash, check, or credit cards. No deposit is required for a reservation. There is no additional parking fee. Storm King does not issue refunds.

Storm King does not have indoor facilities that can accommodate groups during inclement weather. Groups will not be permitted to enter the galleries or Visitor Center due to rain. During a severe weather event, Storm King Staff will direct your group. Please check the weather forecast prior to your visit and come prepared.

Storm King does not reserve rain dates in advance. If your group must cancel due to weather, every effort will be made to reschedule at that time.
