Storm King Art Center celebrates its 60th Anniversary with a series of free, virtual artist talks.

About this Event

Since 1960, Storm King has been dedicated to stewarding the hills, meadows, and forests of its site and surrounding landscape. Building on the visionary thinking of its founders, Storm King supports artists and some of their most ambitious works.

Join us to hear artists as they come together to celebrate our 60th Anniversary and discuss the power of art in nature at Storm King and beyond.

Attendees will receive a Zoom webinar link one-hour prior to the event.

ANDY GOLDSWORTHY In a diverse career spanning five decades, Andy Goldsworthy has become one of the most prominent and iconic contemporary sculptors. In photographs, sculptures, installations, and films, Goldsworthy documents his explorations of the effects of time, the relationship between humans and their natural surroundings, and the beauty in loss and regeneration.

Recent permanent site-specific installations by Goldsworthy include Walking Wall, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Missouri; Hanging Stones, Rosedale, North York Moors, UK; Watershed, deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, Massachusetts; Arundel Street, London, UK; Stone Sea, Saint Louis Art Museum, Missouri; and Chaumont Cairn, Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire, France. Other permanent works can be seen at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; de Young Museum, California; Museum of Jewish Heritage, New York; Albright Knox Art Gallery, New York; Storm King Art Center, New York; Stanford University, California; Haute Provence Geological Reserve in Digne-les-Bains, France; and The Presidio of San Francisco, California, among numerous other sites.

The artist was born in Cheshire, England, in 1956, and is now based in Scotland.

In lieu of our Annual Gala in New York City, we invite you to participate and support Storm King in a new way this fall. From October 1 – 15, we will celebrate our 60-year commitment to art in nature with free virtual programs featuring Storm King artists, curators, and collaborators, plus an online benefit auction on Artsy featuring works generously donated by Storm King artists.

Visit stormking60.org to learn more and preview the auction.
