Free Style Arts Association is a group of artists that create participatory public sculptures. For over 20 years they have been engaging people in public places, inviting people to do projects such as painting on their suits, adding to collaborative sculptures of hula hoops, drawing with remote control cars, playing music on giant xylophones, and creating city-block-long string sculptures. Their sculptures manifest as commissions by community-based art funders, museums, galleries, schools, colleges, and businesses to build a community’s creative confidence and interest in the arts.
Founded in 2004, the Newburgh Performing Arts Academy (NPAA) provides youth ages 3-18 with high quality, pre-professional instruction in dance, music, theatre, and visual arts. NPAA’s mission is to educate and enrich the quality of life of individuals in underserved communities through instruction in and access to the creative art forms. NPAA works with schools and community-based organizations to bring the arts to area residents through its workshops, master classes, arts-in-education, and afterschool programs.
