ACCESSIBILITY
Terrain and Getting Around
Museum Hill can be accessed via paved paths as well as the elevator near the South Parking lot. The tour will take place across varied terrain including hills, wooded areas, paved paths, gravel paths, and mown lawn. Expect to cover 1.0-1.5 miles on the tour.
Accessible Cart Service to Lookout
Martin Puryear’s site-specific commission Lookout is atop a hill in the North Woods along steep, unpaved paths about .25 miles long. Wheelchair-accessible cart rides to and from Lookout will be made available during the tour upon request by calling 845.534.3115 or emailing info@stormkingartcenter.org at least 48 hours in advance of the tour. You may also request a ride while onsite prior to the tour. Service is available on a first come, first served basis. The cart can accommodate up to five visitors sitting in seats; or one wheelchair-using visitor with up to three additional passengers in seats. The weight capacity for the ramp is 650lbs. All rides will depart during the tour from the East Parking area on Museum Hill.
Restrooms
The indoor restrooms on Museum Hill are equipped with somewhat accessible stalls. These stalls include grab bars but are too narrow to accommodate the full turning radius of most wheelchairs.
ASL interpretation for guided tours is available upon request two weeks in advance. Every effort will be made to honor requests made with less notice.
If you have questions or need other accommodations, please email info@stormkingartcenter.org.
