 nSpeaker Bios\n\nAnicka Yi (b.1971 in Seoul\, South Korea) is a Korean-Ame
rican conceptual artist known for her focus on olfaction and her use of un
orthodox\, living\, and perishable materials. Informed by scientific resea
rch\, biology\, and perfumers\, Yi has produced a unique body of work over
the past decade at the intersection of politics and macrobiotics. Her pra
ctice questions the increasingly hazy taxonomic distinctions between what
is human\, animal\, plant\, and machine\, and is the result of an alchemic
al process of experimentation that explores often incompatible materials.
She collaborates with researchers to create media that are often inherentl
y political and delves into the cultural conditioning of sense and percept
ion in a way she describes as “biopolitics of the senses."\n\nHer divers
e installations\, which draw on scientific concepts and techniques to acti
vate vivid fictional scenarios\, ask incisive questions about human psycho
logy and the workings of society. Yi's work has been the subject of numero
us solo exhibitions at institutions around the world\, including the Leeum
  Museum of Art\, Seoul\; Pirelli Hangar Bicocca\, Milan\; Tate Modern\, Lo
ndon\; the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum\, New York\; and the List Visual A
 rts Center\, MIT\, Cambridge\, Massachusetts\; among many others.\n\nRana
Dasgupta is the author of “Solo” and “Capital: A Portrait of Delhi i
n the Twenty-First Century.”  His latest book\, “After Nations: The M
aking &amp\; Unmaking of a World Order” offers a global history of the n
ation-state\, and a diagnosis of the large-scale transition engulfing the
world today.  He is the recipient of the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize\,
the Windham-Campbell Prize and the The Ryszard Kapuściński Award.  He l
ives in France. \n\n\n\nACCESSIBILITY\nRestrooms\nThere are no restrooms
immediately nearby the program location. The closest restrooms are located
at the South Picnic Area\, which is about ¼ mile from the program locati
on\, and includes an ADA portable restroom stall. There is about 120 ft. o
f level\, mown grass between the paved pathway and the restroom enclosures
. Accessible single-user and family restrooms are available at the outdoor
lobby near the entrance.\n\nTerrain and Getting Around\nPlease allow ampl
e time to travel to the program location. We recommend arriving at Storm K
ing at least an hour before the program.\n\nThe program location can be ac
cessed via mostly level paved paths\, ½ mi from the parking area. It can
also be reached by taking the tram loop to Stop #2. The program tent will
be on grass\, approximately 100 ft. from the paved path.\n\nASL interpreta
tion is available upon request two weeks in advance. Every effort will be
made to honor requests made with less notice.\n\nIf you have questions or
need other accommodations\, please email info@stormkingartcenter.org.
