Spanish language Public Program: Interconnected time: In praise of movement

How do our bodies experience time travel?
In what ways does nature allow us to traverse the vastness of our universe?
How does movement bind all living beings past, present and future?
What is the message from the future that greets us in the present?

Working with clay-coated boards, consider individual narratives of time and movement through the four bodies. Individuals will contribute memories for future descendants in the form of a slab relief design that will be added to a collective sculpture reminiscent of Beatriz Cortez’s sculpture, Stela Z. Led, in Spanish, by Jeannette Rodríguez Píneda.

Jeannette Rodríguez Píneda is a queer afro-indigenous visual storyteller and education designer whose practice weaves together ethnobotany and plant based photographic processes. Their work reflects on the closely related subjects of permanence, memory, cycles and intergenerational trauma. They collaborate with cultural spaces to design art, ecology and mindfulness programs that decolonize canon-based models of learning through a decentralized approach. With a life practice deeply rooted in creativity as ancestral knowledge, Rodríguez Píneda  believes in a somatic knowing through the process of creation. They are also a licensed backcountry guide, leading free bilingual hikes through Movimiento, an initiative to strengthen BIPOC connection to land.
