Council Event: Tour of Martin Puryear’s Lookout and Process and Scale
10:30am — 12:00pm
Join us for a tour of preeminent sculptor Martin Puryear’s Lookout and of the accompanying exhibition Process and Scale, led by Storm King President John Stern and Puryear Commission Co-Curator Amy S. Weisser. Lookout is Storm King’s newest site-specific commission for the permanent collection and joins a historic series including works by Andy Goldsworthy, Maya Lin, Isamu Noguchi, and Sarah Sze, among others. Sited at a clearing at the edge of the Art Center’s North Woods, Lookout marks the artist’s first use of brick as a material, recognizing brickmaking as a once-primary industry in the Hudson Valley and referencing the vernacular structures that dot the local landscape.
We will begin the tour with refreshments by the Museum Building before touring Lookout and Process and Scale.
Open to Council Members. To reserve your spot for the tour, please email council@stormkingartcenter.org by Friday, October 13.
