 \;\n\nAbout the Performers:\n\n\n\nSun Ra Arkestra\, founded in Chicago in
  the mid-1950s by pioneering composer and bandleader Sun Ra\, blends big-b
 and swing\, space-age jazz\, singing\, dancing\, chanting\, and Afro-pagea
 ntry. The ensemble has performed worldwide for more than 60 years. Since 1
 995 it has been led by alto saxophonist Marshall Allen—now 101—whose l
 eadership continues as the Arkestra tours internationally. Their 2020 albu
 m Swirling was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble A
 lbum.\n\nEphraim Asili is an African American artist\, filmmaker\, DJ\, an
 d traveler whose work focuses on the African diaspora as a cultural force.
  His childhood and adolescence were imbued with hip-hop music\, Hollywood 
 movies\, and television. Often inspired by his day-to-day wanderings\, Asi
 li creates art that situates itself as a series of meditations of the ever
 yday. Asili is currently the director of the Film and Electronic Arts Prog
 ram at Bard College\, where he is also an associate professor teaching fil
 m production and film studies.\n\n&nbsp\;
