Virtual Member Event: Artist Talk with Nyeema Morgan and Nora Lawrence

Join us for a virtual conversation with artist Nyeema Morgan and Storm King Artistic Director and Chief Curator Nora Lawrence. Morgan is an interdisciplinary artist and former Shandaken: Storm King resident. In this artist talk, Morgan will discuss her practice and how her time in residence at Storm King influenced her work. This event will include a moderated Q&A.

Nyeema Morgan (born Philadelphia, PA) is an interdisciplinary artist. Her works include large-scale drawings, sculptures and printed based media that raise questions about how we articulate and construct meaning within a complex system of socio-political relations. Solo and two-person presentations of her work include The Set-Up at Patron Gallery, Chicago, IL; THE STEM. THE FLOWER. THE ROOT. THE SEED. at The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, Boulder, CO; Like It Is at the Philadelphia Art Alliance, Philadelphia, PA; horror horror at Grant Wahlquist Gallery, Portland, ME and most recently between friends at David Peterson Gallery in Minneapolis, MN. Her work has been included in group exhibitions at The Drawing Center, New York, NY; Galerie Jean Roche Dard, Paris, FR; The Bowdoin College Museum of Art, Brunswick, ME and the Worcester Museum of Art, Worcester, MA. Morgan attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and earned her MFA from the California College of the Arts and her BFA from the Cooper Union School of Art. She is the recipient of a Joan Mitchell Painters and Sculptors Grant, an Art Matters Foundation Grant as well as residencies at the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, The Lower East Side Printshop and the Drawing Center. She currently lives and works in Chicago, Illinois.
