Program included with admission

Using instruments he developed and coded during his 2018 residency at Shandaken: Storm King, Sprang will perform a soundscape in response to the natural and industrial sounds present on the Storm King grounds, in real time.

James Allister Sprang, raised in Miami and currently based in Philadelphia, is a first-generation Caribbean-American. A graduate of The Cooper Union (BFA) and the University of Pennsylvania (MFA), Sprang’s work exists in public spaces, gallery spaces, theater spaces, and the space generally found between the ears. Sprang has shown/performed in spaces such as The Public Theater, Vox Populi, Abrons Arts Center, Baryshnikov Arts Center, FringeArts, The Apollo Theater, The Brooklyn Museum, The Knockdown Center, Pioneer Works, and BHQFU.

Presented with Shandaken Projects

Initiated in 2013 by the Storm King Art Center, Wanderings & Wonderings invites visitors to engage with artists in creative and unexpected ways. Participating artists have created tours, maps, performances, poetry and movement workshops, new media, and deeply thoughtful conversations. Since 2015, Wanderings & Wonderings has been co-presented with Shandaken: Storm King, and features select alumni of Shandaken: Storm King and their collaborators.
