Artists Respond: Mark di Suvero
Sundays at 3 pm • June 17, June 24, July 1, July 8
A collaboration between Storm King Art Center and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC). Presented as part of the 2012 River to River festival.
Each week, a current or former retsident of LMCC’s Swing Space artist residency, located in Building 110 at Governors Island, leads a creative tour of the Mark di Suvero exhibition based on their experiences with the sculptures. The tours aim to be personal and sometimes performative, and aim to bridge the practice of two working artists while also providing unique perspectives on the work of Mark di Suvero.
Tamimiami Pixelation Project

A collaboration between Storm King Art Center and The Children’s Museum of the Arts.
The Children’s Museum of the Arts and Storm King Art Center will partner on a family fun “Tamimiami Pixilation Project,” Saturday, July 14th, from 11-3 pm on Governors Island. Drawing inspiration from the sculpture Tamimiami by Mark di Suvero, located in Nolan Park, CMA Teaching Artists will help children to explore the art of pixilation, animate their bodies, and create their own choreography to bring the sculpture to life.
An Afternoon of Poetry and Sculpture

Poets House and Storm King Art Center present an afternoon of poetry inspired by Mark di Suvero’s exhibition of sculpture on Governors Island.
Mark di Suvero and Socrates Sculpture Park: Celebrating a Legacy
Four weekend days in August, 3 pm
A collaboration between Storm King Art Center and Socrates Sculpture Park.
In honor of the 25th anniversary of Socrates Sculpture Park, co-founded by Mark di Suvero, artists who have exhibited at Socrates will give tours of the di Suvero exhibition and talk about ways in which di Suvero’s work has influenced their own production.
In addition to our special programming listed herein, Storm King Art Center will offer a daily tour of the exhibition Mark di Suvero at Governors Island: Presented by Storm King Art Center at 1 pm. Open to all Governors Island visitors.
