Katie Paterson frequently teams with physicists and astronomers to create her work. Streetlight Storm, exhibited here for the first time in the United States, originates in transmissions received from a giant antenna in Great Britain that is able to detect lightning from the Arctic Circle to North Africa and translate it in real-time into bright flashes of light. The lamps above each entrance to Storm King's Visitor Center respond to the transmissions, and their flashes represent lightning from faraway places.
