Zhang Huan intended for Ash Thinker No. 10 to depict an archetype rather than a specific person: "The figure depicts the spirited outlook of contemporary migrant workers. They, the same as me, are not native in Beijing or Shanghai, they just seek a livelihood in the big cities. I intend to extend my sympathy and blessings for them."
