For the execution of this work, Peter Coffin enlisted jazz musician Bob James, whose 1976 album Three included an instrumental track entitled "Storm King," and whose music has been described as having a sunny feel to it. For Untitled (Sunshine), Coffin asked James to compose and record a musical interpretation of sunshine, which is played from loudspeakers in an open field.
