Oppenheim spoke of Electric Kiss—which resembles both a Hershey’s Kiss and a wild plant growing on Storm King’s grounds—as having many potential associations: “It is the shape of an onion dome. You see those in Russia, and their roots are Islamic . . . it’s a truncated teardrop . . . it has this emotional content. . . . Could you say that the shape somehow is exemplified in an actual kiss? . . . Let’s see, a kiss: there’s this sort of, your lips do this, and then they do that. So maybe you could say that, you know, stretching it a little bit, that this could be a three-dimensional replication of the mechanics of a kiss, the way that it extracts and expands.”
