Children & Families: Forest Ramble Tree ID

When

Sunday, September 13, 2026
12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Event Type

A group of adults and children standing in the forest looking at the trees.Let’s go for a stroll with Hudson Highlands Nature Center on the trails of Storm King! We’ll observe our surroundings and discover the diversity of our plants and trees. We will discuss their many uses, including how humans and animals rely on them!

The Hudson Highlands Nature Center is a nonprofit (501c3) center for nature, with a focus on Nature Education and Nature Play.  We use our living collections of native animals, natural habitats, nature play spaces like Grasshopper Grove, and trails to present a wide variety of programs at our two locations, the Outdoor Discovery Center (ODC) and Wildlife Education Center (WEC). Over the years we have developed an array of hands-on, experiential education programs to help children and families establish a meaningful connection to the natural world. The Nature Center is a leading provider of Nature Education experiences in the Hudson Valley that reaches over 30,000 people each year through our popular preschool program, weekend nature programs, summer camp, school programs, and more!

  • Program location: Meet on Museum Hill
  • Suggested age range: all ages
  • Free with admission, no registration required

ACCESSIBILITY

Terrain and Getting Around
The meeting place for this program is on grass, just off of a paved path, which is about 1 mile from the entrance along mostly level paved paths. Visitors may take the free, wheelchair-accessible Tram Loop from stop 1 at the base of the entrance path to stop 4 near the Storm King Environmental Field Station, and then take the Elevator up to Museum Hill. Trams depart from stop 1 at 15 and 45 minutes after each hour. While this program begins on Museum Hill, the walk will continue along the unpaved walking trails around Storm King’s landscape.

Restrooms
Accessible, single-occupancy restroom stalls are located in the Outdoor Lobby, near the entrance. Portable restrooms, including an ADA stall are located on Museum Hill.

ASL interpretation, and Assistive Listening Devices with T-coil capabilities are available upon request at least two weeks in advance. Every effort will be made to honor requests made with less notice.

If you have questions or need other accommodations, please email info@stormkingartcenter.org.
