DOCENT TOURS

Storm King’s specially trained docents lead tours that are 45-60 minutes long and generally take place on and around Museum Hill. Please be prepared to walk up to one mile on grass.

Tours cover information and history about Storm King Art Center and focus on a few key works from the collection. Teachers with a special interest in particular works or themes should specify this on their reservation request.  When possible, our staff will work with the group leader to tailor a tour to the group’s interest. Storm King encourages educators to prepare independent assignments and activities for their groups, however such activities may not be undertaken during a guided tour.

Tours must be requested at least two weeks in advance of your visit and are subject to docent availability. Docent tours may not be cancelled or changed with less than 24-hour notice. Groups, including school groups, who do not provide 24-hour cancellation notice will be charged an administrative fee of $50 per docent.

TRAMS

Storm King trams are a crucial service for visitors with limited mobility and those with very young children. Trams make a loop of the property and include a pre-recorded tour. Storm King has recently updated the tram policy for groups to help ensure access for those who need it most. Please review the updated policy carefully.

During peak months, May, June, September, and October, groups are not permitted to ride public trams. During non-peak months, tram seats are available to groups on a first come, first served basis. Priority will always be given to guests with limited mobility.

A tram ride may be reserved exclusively for your group for a $250 fee with at least two weeks advanced notice. Each tram seats up to 46 people. Reserved trams are not able to make extended stops along the route. The full loop is roughly 30 minutes long.

LUNCH

Picnic areas are available for groups who wish to bring their own lunch. All lunches should be placed in a large box or bin for easy transport by our staff.

Storm King Café offers a special bagged lunch menu for groups. Bagged lunches must be pre-ordered from the Storm King Café at least 5 business days before your visit. 2018 menu and ordering instructions will be posted soon.

PAYMENT

Admission fees may be paid on arrival or in advance (at least one week before your visit). Fees for additional services (tour, tram etc.) must be paid at least one week in advance. We accept cash, check or credit cards. Detailed payment instructions will be included with a reservation confirmation.  No deposit is required for a reservation. There is no additional parking fee. Storm King does not issue refunds.
