Children & Families: Chandelier Poems

Event Type

Hands making a poem poster on black cardstock using cut out words on white paper and stickers.Make a Chandelier Poem inspired by Liz Glynn’s Open House. Participants are encouraged to develop a list of words and phrases reflecting the installation and then attach them into a cascading three-dimensional form. This program will be led by Mala Hoffman.

Mala Hoffman is a poet and educator who lives in Gardiner, N.Y. Her work has appeared in the Village Voice, Chronogram, Awosting Alchemy, Literary Gazette and edna , among others. Her poetry collections include Half Moon Over Midnight (Paper Kite Press), A Year of Wednesdays(Finishing Line Press), Becoming Bubbe (The Poet’s Haven), and A History of Place (Finishing Line Press).She is also the co-author, with her daughter Lucy Moran, of Dispelling the Shadow: Activities Exploring Life and Death with Young People (Routledge). Her most recent work is How to Live with Ghosts, published by Bottlecap Press in 2025.
ACCESSIBILITY

Terrain and Getting Around
Children & Family programs generally take place on grass, just off of a paved path. The program location is about 1/4 mile from the entrance along mostly level paved paths.

Restrooms
Accessible, single-occupancy restroom stalls are located in the Outdoor Lobby, near the entrance. Portable restrooms, including an ADA stall, are located near the Outdoor Café, Museum Hill, and in the South Fields near Storm King Environmental Field Station.

ASL interpretation, and Assistive Listening Devices with T-coil capabilities are available upon request at least two weeks in advance. Every effort will be made to honor requests made with less notice.
