Children & Families: Sculpt, Shape, Combine, Create!

Experiment with color, texture, form, and space. Get inspired by the exhibition Arlene Shechet: Girl Group and create dynamic sculptures through intuitive processes. Consider relationships between Shechet’s large-scale outdoor works, her ceramics in the Museum galleries, and your own creations. Led by Kristin Roeder

Kristin Roeder is an educator and teaching artist committed to inclusive, learner-directed education and inquiry. Kristin has devoted twenty years to developing and facilitating studio and gallery explorations at museums including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and Storm King Art Center. Her training with the Institute for Inquiry cultivated a deep respect for curiosity, discovery, and play, which is reflected in the artwork, programming, and resources she develops.

 

ACCESSIBILITY
Restrooms
The indoor restrooms on Museum Hill are equipped with somewhat accessible stalls. These stalls include grab bars but are too narrow to accommodate the full turning radius of most wheelchairs.

Terrain
Museum Hill can be accessed via paved paths as. The program tent will be on mostly level grass and will be a short distance from the paved pathway.

Shade and Seating
These programs are often under or near a tent. Depending on the program, participants may work at tables or move into the grassy field. Nearby trees provide a shady place to spread out. Folding stools are available.
