Join landscape architects from Reed Hilderbrand for a special guided tour of the new buildings and landscapes developed through Storm King’s capital project, the first in the museum’s 65-year history.

Explore these transformative new spaces and see Storm King through fresh eyes. Visit the newly designed welcome pavilions, outdoor lobby, and reclaimed landscapes for art and programming. Gain insight into how the project thoughtfully integrates nature, art, and people, and learn about the vision and creative process that brought these spaces to life.

Bios

Beka Sturges is a Partner and Principal of Reed Hilderbrand and manages the firm’s New Haven office where she leads both private and public projects. Her work is noted for its powerful spatial demonstration of the cultural and environmental value of landscapes. Beka’s current projects include landscapes at Powder Mountain in Eden Utah, Storm King Art Center in New York’s Hudson Valley, and Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington D.C. Collaborating with the City of New Haven, she initiated the implementation of a linear park vision plan for the City’s Mill River Trail. She served as the project landscape architect and manager for the award-winning expansion of The Clark Art Institute in the Berkshires. A committed educator, Beka is a Senior Critic at the Yale School of Architecture.  

Meg Griscom is an Associate Principal in Reed Hilderbrand’s New Haven office, where she is project manager for multiple prominent cultural, institutional and public projects, including Hudson Valley’s Storm King Art Center, San Antonio Botanical Garden in San Antonio, TX, and Great Island in Darien, CT. Her work is grounded in celebrating geomorphology, hydrology, ecology and community to reveal unique histories and illuminate possible futures. She brings attention to land and water stewardship to her work, and is focused on the relationship between art, ecology, and civic space. Connecticut’s chapter of ASLA recently recognized her project, Esker Promontory, with the 2025 Award of Excellence in Design. Meg holds a dual Masters in Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. She is an Adjunct Professor of Art History and Architectural Studies at Connecticut College.

ACCESSIBILITY
Terrain and Getting Around
The tour will take place across varied terrain including hills, wooded areas, paved paths, gravel paths, and mown lawn. Expect to cover 1 to 1.5 miles on the tour.

Assistive Listening Devices
The tour leader and attendees will be connected through assistive listening devices.

Accessible Cart Service
An accessible golf cart may be requested to assist with moving between locations during the tour. Service is available on a first come, first served basis. Please make a request in advance by emailing info@stormkingartcenter.org.  The cart can accommodate up to five visitors sitting in seats; or one wheelchair-using visitor with up to three additional passengers in seats. The weight capacity for the ramp is 650lbs.

Restrooms
Accessible restroom stalls are located at the Restroom Pavilion, near the entrance.

ASL interpretation for guided tours is available upon request two weeks in advance. Every effort will be made to honor requests made with less notice.
