This is the second in a series of three tours, Architects on Site, lead by architecture firms that designed the capital project. For other tour dates, please see below.
Join Claire Weisz, Asher Intebi, and Layng Pew of WXY for a special guided tour of the new buildings and landscapes developed through Storm King’s capital project, the first in the museum’s 65-year history.
Explore these transformative new spaces and see Storm King through fresh eyes. Visit the newly designed welcome pavilions, outdoor lobby, and reclaimed landscapes for art and programming. Gain insight into how the project thoughtfully integrates nature, art, and people, and learn about the vision and creative process that brought these spaces to life.

Bios
Claire Weisz, FAIA, RAIC, Hon. FASLA, is the Founding Principal of WXY, an architecture and urban design firm focused on creating equitable, vibrant, and healthy buildings, places, and systems. Among its award-winning projects are the Spring Street Sanitation Garage and Salt Shed, the rooftop pavilion and farm at the Javits Center, and The Drawing Center. Claire is also a co-founder and former co-executive director of The Design Trust for Public Space. She was awarded the prestigious Medal of Honor by the New York Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 2018 and was honored with the Women in Architecture Award by Architectural Record in 2019.
Layng Pew, AIA, is a Principal at WXY architecture + urban design, heading the firm’s technical practice. Layng has developed a portfolio spanning thirty-six years leading complex and uncommon project types like the SeaGlass Carousel at the Battery, the revitalization of Andrew Haswell Green Park, and currently the restoration and reimagination of the historic Jones Beach East Bathhouse. His work at WXY comes in all sizes from the complete reconstruction of the five-mile-long Rockaway Boardwalk to the bespoke design of drinking fountains and benches for Battery Park.
Asher Intebi, RA, is an architect and Senior Associate at WXY architecture + urban design. He has been a key contributor to WXY’s work with Storm King Art Center since its start in 2018, ultimately managing the project through documentation and construction. During his time at WXY, he has also contributed to the urban design strategy for a large-scale rezoning project on the Long Island City waterfront, the adaptation plan for the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation’s artist residency on Captiva Island, and the renovation of Jefferson Market Library in the West Village.

Terrain and Getting Around
The tour will take place across varied terrain including hills, wooded areas, paved paths, gravel paths, and mown lawn. Expect to cover 1 to 1.5 miles on the tour.
Assistive Listening Devices
The tour leader and attendees will be connected through assistive listening devices.
Accessible Cart Service
An accessible golf cart may be requested to assist with moving between locations during the tour. Service is available on a first come, first served basis. Please make a request in advance by emailing info@stormkingartcenter.org. The cart can accommodate up to five visitors sitting in seats; or one wheelchair-using visitor with up to three additional passengers in seats. The weight capacity for the ramp is 650lbs.
Restrooms
Accessible restroom stalls are located at the Restroom Pavilion, near the entrance.
ASL interpretation for guided tours is available upon request two weeks in advance. Every effort will be made to honor requests made with less notice.
