Children & Families: How to Be a Color Wizard

Explore the magic of color with artist, educator, and author Jason Logan. Combine science and art in a day of drop-in foraging and ink-making workshops. Jason’s new book, How to Be a Color Wizard: Forage and Experiment with Natural Art Making, will be available for purchase at the program.

11am-4pm: Experiment with pigment made from plants at Storm King and color-changing processes at various drop-in stations.

12pm and 2pm: Join a foraging expedition to collect specimens for ink making. Each foraging expedition is limited to 20 people and are first come, first served. 

3pm-4pm: A book signing with Jason Logan.

  • Suggested age range: All ages
  • Free with admission, no pre-registration required. Stop by the program to sign-up for foraging.

 

ACCESSIBILITY
Restrooms
The closest accessible portable restroom stalls are located near the South Picnic area. There is about 120 ft. of level, mown grass between the paved pathway and the restroom enclosures.

Picnicking
Wheelchair accessible picnic tables are located in the South Picnic area. There is about 30 ft. of mostly level, mown grass between the paved pathway and the picnic table.

Terrain 
The program location is on mostly level, mown grass in the South Fields. One foraging expedition will stick to paved, level paths. The other may traverse mown lawn and some grassy hills.

Shade and Seating
This programs is under a tent. Participants may work at tables or move into the grassy field. Nearby trees provide a shady place to spread out. Folding stools are available.
