Children & Families: Nature Walk: What’s the Buzz?

Sunday, June 9, 2024
12:00pm — 1:30pm

Step into spring and search for insects in the fields and forests of Storm King. Join an educator from the Hudson Highlands Nature Center and learn about insects, plants, and the natural history of the area. This walk will cover grassy hills and gravel paths that are often steep.

  • Program location: Meet on Museum Hill
  • Suggested age range: all ages
  • Free with admission, no registration required.

The Hudson Highlands Nature Center is a nonprofit (501c3) center for nature, with a focus on Nature Education and Nature Play.  We use our living collections of native animals, natural habitats, nature play spaces like Grasshopper Grove, and trails to present a wide variety of programs at our two locations, the Outdoor Discovery Center (ODC) and Wildlife Education Center (WEC). Over the years we have developed an array of hands-on, experiential education programs to help children and families establish a meaningful connection to the natural world. The Nature Center is a leading provider of Nature Education experiences in the Hudson Valley that reaches over 30,000 people each year through our popular preschool program, weekend nature programs, summer camp, school programs, and more! https://hhnaturecenter.org/

ACCESSIBILITY
Restrooms
The indoor restrooms on Museum Hill are equipped with somewhat accessible stalls. These stalls include grab bars but are too narrow to accommodate the full turning radius of most wheelchairs.

Terrain
This walk will begin on Museum Hill and end in the North Woods. The walk will cover up to a mile on grassy lawn and gravel trains that are, at times, steep. Tree coverage along this route provides shade.

If you have questions or need other accommodations, please email info@stormkingartcenter.org.
