Children & Families: Planets and Pigments

Draw inspiration from the colors and textures in Alicja Kwade’s sculpture LinienLand, 2018, to create your own painted planets and contribute to a collaborative artwork. Experiment with watercolors and consider what narratives might take place in your imagined universe. Led by Elizabeth Messer

Elizabeth Messer is a visual artist and educator whose practice spans the mediums of photography, sculpture, and fibers. She explores notions of performance, memory, and domestic space while integrating her experience as a chronically ill person. As an educator, Elizabeth is committed to fostering an inquiry-based and accessible learning environment. She has developed gallery, studio, and classroom learning experiences for participants aged three to adults. Originally from the Philadelphia area, Elizabeth lives and works in New York’s Hudson Valley. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Art History from The State University of New York at Purchase College and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and Video from the School of Visual Arts in New York, NY.
ACCESSIBILITY
Restrooms
The closest accessible portable restroom stalls are located near the South Picnic area. There is about 120 ft. of level, mown grass between the paved pathway and the restroom enclosures.
Terrain
The program location is on mostly level, mown grass in the South Fields.
Shade and Seating
These programs are often under or near a tent. Depending on the program, participants may work at tables or move into the grassy field. Nearby trees provide a shady place to spread out. Folding stools are available.
